Olivia Birritteri is an architectural designer at Stanev Potts Architects and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Thomas Jefferson University. She explores architecture through materials, modeling, and methods of fabrication that guide her design process. She believes that good design has a concept that is communicated from schematic design to the detailing of architectural tectonics.
At Kimmerle Group, Olivia won first place in the Summer Intern Design Competition where she designed a temporary installation to be constructed for Wightman Farms' fall festival. During the summer of 2019 she interned at DI Group Architecture. Olivia was also hired by the Synesthetic Research and Design Lab as Project Assistant during the summer of 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, to help continue efforts in fabricating "Synesthesia", an installation that was exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2021. In her fifth year of architecture school, Olivia operated as the student leader for her design studio at TJU where students collaborated with Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and Zhejiang University to design an adaptive façade for a Solar Decathlon China competition house that was constructed in Zhangjiakou, China in October of 2021. The house was exhibited through the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Along with her Bachelor of Architecture, Olivia graduated with a custom minor entitled Experimental Materials and Fabrication. The minor includes courses in industrial design and architecture that are focused on prototyping and fabrication methods. Her independent study, established as part of her custom minor, explored the acoustical properties of mycelium as a sustainable and biodegradable alternative to acoustic architectural products.
